The City Bakery Joins Earth Share

        

City Bakery, one of the most environmentally-progressive food businesses in the land, has partnered with Earth Share of California for Environmental Awareness Month. The City Bakery has locations in New York and Los Angeles, and is the creator of Birdbath Neighborhood Green Bakery located in New York. City Bakery's menus on both coasts are based on local, organic, and seasonal raw materials procured largely from farmer's markets. All City Bakery locations operate on 100% wind-power.

City Bakery has been factoring its impact on the environment into its operational procedures since 1990, long before global warming became a world-wide topic. Some of it's more recent initiatives include subsidizing the cost of eco-education to its employees, with added incentives to reduce to their individual carbon footprints. City Bakery and Birdbath want to talk about food with their customers and they want to talk about the earth. They are working with Earth Share to start a workplace giving campaign where employees and customers can contribute to Earth Share member groups.
