Bravo “Date My Ex” teams with Earth Share

The popular Bravo show “Date My Ex” recently decided to team with Earth Share affiliates, in California, New York and Illinois, to offer a different spin on the recycling of one’s ex. All of the bids from the auction of a date with an ex, on July 17th in Hollywood, were donated to ESCA. ESCA wishes to extend a gracious thank you to Valeria Brown, Bravo, Tracey Shechtman, Grandcentral Marketing, and Jonathan Holiday, the auctioneer, for a great fundraising evening.

400,00 Ralphs Supermarkets reusable bags purchased!

Plastic grocery bags constitute a large part of our state’s waste on a yearly basis. Californians use more than 19 billion plastic grocery bags each year, creating 147,038 tons of waste in our landfills. With Californians throwing away over 600 bags per second, they are creating enough waste every year to circle the planet over 250 times.

Today over 400,000 reusable bags have been purchased by Ralphs customers! Two years ago Ralphs and ESCA entered into a relationship to offer reusable bags as an alternative to plastic and paper bags. The reusable bags display the logos of Earth Share and member organizations and are for purchase in all Ralphs Supermarkets throughout Southern California. A portion of the sales are donated to Earth Share. Those funds have been used for capacity building by ESCA and its member organizations.

NPR “Morning Edition”sponsorship

Earth Share has purchased two weeks of sponsorship for “Morning Edition” to begin airing nationally on October 1, 2008.
